Throwback Fun..... Salvation Army Find... Pyrex Butterprint 444 Cinderella Bowl

Hello vintage lovers!! Here is another one of my throwback fun posts. I found this at my local salvation army a while ago, it was one of my very first thrift store pyrex finds. My town does not have a lot of pyrex in it so when I find it, it is a good day. This is the pyrex butterprint 444 cinderella bowl I only paid 3.99 for it. I have the same bowl (Size, color and everything) that I paid $25 for at an antique store, I was so desperate to find some butterprint I paid more than I wanted to. I still bought this one because I am not leaving a piece of butterprint at the thrift store. This one has some cosmetic issues, my other one is in near perfect condition so I guess you get what you pay for? The day I found this was so exciting and that is why I keep looking because it is the thrill of the hunt.

Throwback Fun.... Jadeite Fire King Beaded/Swirl Bowls

Hello vintage lovers!! I thought it would be fun to do what I am calling a throwback post. These are items that was never shared on this blog but I thought they deserved to be shared. The first post is going to be this stack of Fire King jadeite bowls. Now I will say that all but the smallest bowl has been on my blog in different posts but I didn't want to take it out of the set, plus I thought I could show you how you can mix different sets to make a better set.
The top bowl is the smallest beaded rim mixing bowl made by fire king, I picked this up at an antique store for $15 (which at the time I thought was too much LOL). I also want to mention that the bottom bowl (this was featured in a flea market post) is a Fire King 2000 bowl, which means it is new but I think it matches the other beaded rims just fine. This really is a frankenstack (this is what peopele call mixed design bowls) for sure. I love the look of it so much all together in this stack I have around $90 and that is a steal considering what each bowl can sell for online. I will say that my Jadeite collection is my most expensive one I have but I LOVE IT ALL SO MUCH! Mostly because I have to buy most of my vintage jadeite offline or in antique stores where items are a bit more expensive. Hope you enjoyed my first throwback post and I will be posting more like this because as I have stated before there is no vintage to be found right now.

Just A Check In.....

Hello vintage lovers!! This is just a little check in to tell you what I have been up to. Not a lot like the rest of the population at this moment. I have been doing some thrifting the past few months but not as much as I used to. Also I have not been seeing a lot of vintage items, or guess I should say a lot of vintage items I want. Like I have been saying and keep saying (I'm sure you are tired of hearing it) I am being a lot more particular about what I buy.
I will say that I was disappointed with my goodwill this past week. They had been closed down for almost two months. They had a big re opening and let me tell you it was crazy. I think everyone in our town was at that place. I was hoping to find a few vintage items but came home empy handed. I really did not see any pyrex, jadeite or really anything vintage but there was also a lot of people grabbing and filling carts full so there may have been a few things that I just missed.
It was sad to not see one anything at all but it was probably a good thing. I was so excited for the goodwill to be open again I probably would have bought anything I saw that was vintage. I did go to a few yard sales in my area too but again no vintage stuff. I am supposed to go with my mom to a town a little ways away from me over the weekend so I am hoping to find a few things there. Guess we will have to wait and see. Hope you are having luck at your local thrift stores!

Homeplace Finds..... Great Grandad's Marbles

Hello vintage lovers!! I am sure you are scratching your heads right now at exactly what is a homeplace. Well, in the south that is where your parents/grandparents lived and grew up. Back in the 50s/60s most people bought a home and that was the only home they bought their whole lives. So when I say homeplace I mean my grandparents house, they are now deceased and have been for a long time. My dad and I decided to go up there with my two boys a few weeks ago and the main reason was to look for these marbles.
My grandfather collected marbles he found all around. I am sure a lot came from my dad cause he played with marbles a lot as a kid. Others were from the school where he was janitor and various other places. I really wanted them for my son because he is getting obsessed with marbles and I thought it would be awesome if he had some from his great-grandad. It took us a while to find them but we finally did and after some deep cleaning this is what we have. I think someone else took some too because I remember a lot more than what is here when I was younger. These are not in the best condition some are chipped and cloudy and that is ok. The emotional value is more important than actual value anyways. I hope to put them in a vintage jar at some point to store them but for now my son has them in a box in his room.

It's a good thing and a bad thing.......

Hello vintage lovers!! I have not posted in over a month but with good reason. I have not been able to thrift shop very much because of the state of the world right now. Most thrift stores have closed and are just opening back up, also there have been no yard sales yet in my area. I am really sad about the yard/estate sales, that is the one thing I get excited about and it is my escape for a few hours a week.
I will say that my local salvation army has been open but I have not picked up a lot of items there. I have actually been very selective about my purchases here lately. It's a good thing and a bad thing, the good thing is I save money and space, the bad thing is I have nothing for my blog. I am proud of myself that I have been making better buying decisions. I really did want to stop bringing so much into my home.
I have also been decluttering during the quarantine (I'm sure a lot of people have). Took about 6 boxes and a few bags to salvation army so far. I have also set a few things aside for a yard sale. My local goodwill opens up in a week and I am very excited will be there right when the doors open. Hope my streak of making good decisions makes it through that trip. I do have a few items that never got posted that I may try to get up here soon. Hope everyone is well and you are finding good deals in your area!
